Analysis

 

To perform analysis on the inputs, click on the compute menu and select the compute menu item.  This will perform the analysis on the input parameters.  If there are errors the will be notifications regarding the same.  The results will be available in the analysis pane.  For more details refer to the compute menu section.

 

To just compute results just for a particular analysis model and loadcase, click on the [Compute loadcase] button on the appropriate analysis tile and loadcase tab.

Analysis Pane

 

Results of analysis for “Discrete spring-bed model” ,“Elastic halfspace model” and “Multilayered soil model” are shown in their respective separate panes. 

 

These get populated once the ‘Compute menu’ is clicked, or the ‘Compute loadcase’ button on the tab is clicked and after successful computation.  The Analysis tile will turn green after successful computation. 

 

Each analysis pane consists of multiple load case tabs displaying the analyses for the corresponding load cases.

Each load case analyses tab consists of tables tabulating the analyses results for the load case. 

 

Settlement Table

 

The Settlement table contains the vertical settlement of the raft.  Each point represents a node in the finite element analysis.  Each quadrilateral finite element is further divided into two triangles for display purposes.  Downward settlement is considered positive. 

 

 

Moment Table

 

The Bending moment table contains the bending moment Mx and My and twisting moment Mxy experienced by the raft.  Each point represents a node in the finite element analysis. 

 

 

Shear Table

 

The Shear table contains the shear forces Qx and Qy experienced by the raft at the centroid of each quadrilateral element.

 

 

Slope Table

 

The Slope table shows the slope qx and qy at each node point.

 

 

Soil Pressure Table

 

The Pressure table contains the Contact pressure experienced by the raft at each nodal point. 

 

 

Analysis Graphs

 

Analysis graphs plots the contents of the analysis tables.  The contents of the graph can be copied by right clicking on the graph and selecting ‘copy’ from the context menu.  For cloud version, the graph can be saved as a 'png' image by right clicking on the graph and selecting ‘save' from the context menu.  These can then be downloaded to the local computer if desired.

 

Raft Settlement Graph

 

Raft Settlement graph plots the vertical settlement of the raft.  Downward settlement is considered positive. 

 

 

Bending Moment Graph

 

Bending moment Mx, My, Mxy graph plots the bending moment experienced about the x axis, y axis and twisting moment about the z axis.

 

 

 

 

Soil Pressure Graph

 

Soil pressure graph plots the contact pressure at each nodal point of the graph.
